Are there any medications that automatically disqualify a driver?

A driver cannot take a controlled substance or prescription medication without a recent prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.

Can I be certified if I am using medical marijuana prescribed by my doctor?

NO! The use of marijuana, even with a prescription, is an automatic disqualification and you will not receive a medical certification. .

If I have high blood pressure, will I be disqualified?

If you have not been diagnosed with high blood pressure, but your blood pressure is:

1. between 140-159/90-99 you will receive a 1 yr certification

2. between 160-179/100/109 you will receive a 3 month certification in which time you must seek medical treatment and initiate BP medications. At your follow up visit, your BP must be below 140/90 on medications.

3. greater than 180/110 is an automatic disqualification and you will not be certified.
